南科大副校长汤涛教授当选中国科学院院士,成为深圳本土培养的首位中国科学院院士

2017年11月28日,2017年中国科学院院士增选名单正式公布,南方科技大学副校长汤涛教授当选为中国科学院院士,这是深圳本土培养的首位中国科学院院士。

在今年的中国科学院院士增选名单中,共有61人新当选为中国科学院院士。其中,数学物理学部11人,化学部9人,生命科学和医学学部13人,地学部10人,信息技术科学部6人,技术科学部12人。

中国科学院院士是中华人民共和国设立的科学技术方面的最高学术称号,为终身荣誉。随着汤涛教授当选为中国科学院数学物理学部院士,南科大院士人数已经达到20人,其中全职院士9人。
       
2015年5月,汤涛教授被聘为南方科技大学副校长、数学系讲座教授。甫一上任的他就为南科大大一学子们讲授高等数学课,他说:“这是我工作25年来第一次正式在内地高校的讲台上给大学生上基础课,很期待。”两年来,汤涛教授在担任副校长的同时,还一直在书院担任导师对学生提供指导,开设本科生基础课程并亲自授课。
       
在南科大初创时期,汤涛教授就投身于南科大建设世界一流大学事业中,并在推动南科大科研体制机制创新、研究生培养教育跨越式发展、数学学科建设方面做出了重要贡献。
       
2017年1月9日,2016年度国家科学技术奖励大会上,由汤涛教授主持的项目“自适应与高精度数值方法及其理论分析”荣获国家自然科学奖二等奖。这也是首位以南方科技大学为工作单位的国家自然科学奖获奖者。

汤涛简历:
        汤涛,计算数学家。1963年5月生于安徽省舒城县,1984年毕业于北京大学数学系,1989年于获得英国利兹大学博士学位,2017年当选中国科学院院士。现任南方科技大学副校长、研究生院院长、数学系讲座教授。
        汤涛教授主要从事计算数学研究。他与合作者提出了守恒型移动网格方法,克服了移动网格计算的关键困难,使高维计算成为可能,被国际同行称为开创性工作;他推导出了有效的缩放因子公式,采用此公式的无穷区域谱方法大大加速了计算效率,在多个领域的科学计算中得到成功应用。另外,对于非齐次守恒律的时间分裂法,他与合作者首次给出了收敛阶估计,建立的理论框架引起了多个后续工作。曾获国家自然科学奖二等奖、冯康科学计算奖等。在2018年国际数学家大会作45分钟邀请报告。
        汤涛教授1990年至1998年执教于加拿大西门菲莎大学,取得终身教职;1998年加入香港浸会大学,曾任数学系系主任、研究生院院长、代理副校长、协理副校长、理学院院长。是美国工业与应用数学学会会士(SIAM Fellow),曾任香港数学会会长。2015年,汤涛教授加入南方科技大学,任副校长、研究生院院长、数学系讲座教授。
        汤涛教授曾获国家自然科学二等奖、教育部2007年度高等学校科学技术奖(自然科学一等奖)、国家杰出青年(海外)科学基金奖、冯康科学计算奖、Leslie Fox Prize for numerical analysis。

吉林大学陈岐岱教授来我系开展学术报告

    2017年11月24日,应我系吴长锋教授的邀请,吉林大学陈岐岱教授来我系开展了主题为“飞秒激光微纳加工蛋白质光子器件”。我系师生参加了此次讲座。

     陈岐岱是吉林大学教授,博士生导师。其研究主要围绕飞秒激光加工的器件功能化、加工效率提升和走向实用化等领域难题开展。
     在报告中中,陈岐岱教授首先对飞秒激光微纳加工的研究背景进行了介绍。由于大部分微纳加工成型技术在亚微米乃至纳米精度真三维等能力上的不足或缺失,限制了蛋白质及衍生物基生物材料在微纳尺度应用的进一步发展。陈岐岱教授及其研究团队提出了使用飞秒激光微纳加工技术对这一难题进行挑战。他们通过对飞秒激光微纳加工的极限分辨率问题进行深入探索,实现了小于20nm分辨率的高精度加工。基于此方法,实现以蛋白质基功能化微透镜、微纳光波导器件、真三维蛋白质基回音壁模式(WGM)微激光器系列微纳光学元件。他还结合我系实际情况,详细讲解了利用飞秒激光微纳加工技术制作仿生复眼的技术。

        陈岐岱教授的演讲激发了在场师生的强烈兴趣,他们纷纷提出自己的看法,与陈岐岱教授切磋讨论。

2017年11月14日-16日,应我系执行系主任陈放怡的邀请,加拿大阿尔伯塔大学Hasan Uludag 教授来我系交流访问。

Hasan Uludag教授是International Union of Society of Biomaterials Science and Engineering会士,自1997年以来一直在阿尔伯塔大学工作,目前任职于化学与材料工程系。

14日,Hasan Uludag教授在第二科研楼317开展了题为《Making Precision Therapy Possible in Cancer: Design of Drug Carriers to Silence Molecular Targets》的学术报告。他在报告中指出他带领其团队长期致力于研究一种有效递送核酸的合成材料,用以对癌症进行精确治疗。他们研究发现脂质代替物的分子层细节与纳米粒子的物化特性之间有着紧密关系,最终与它们的生理表现存在紧密关系。他认为亲脂性聚合物在提供基因药物方面具有治疗潜力和潜在的操作基础。下午,Hasan Uludag教授与工学院院长徐政和教授进行了深入交流。

 

15日,Hasan Uludag教授与生物医学工程系师生在第二科研楼317开展座谈,座谈会由我系教授吴长锋主持。Hasan Uludag教授详细询问了在场学生的研究方向、研究经历和求学意向,并向大家介绍了申请加拿大阿尔伯塔大学研究生的条件和途径。

16日,南方科技大学校长陈十一在校长办公室会见Hasan Uludag教授,双方就两校合作等事宜进行了深入交流。
